Premise of the Show
For those who are unfamiliar, Deadliest Warrior is a show that routinely seeks to discover who between two famous historical warriors would win a one on one fight. Finally discover who would win if the fight were a ninja versus a knight or an Apache warrior versus a pirate. The team of scientists and historians test the weapons of each warrior and then use computer statistics to find out who would most likely come out alive.
Premise of the Game
The game takes the same general idea but puts you in control of both testing and actually fulfilling the fight. Choose among eight different warriors: the Apache, Knight, Ninja, Samurai, Pirate, Roman Centurion, Spartan, or Viking. Each character has a primary weapon as well as a secondary and tertiary weapons. On top of that, they also have special weapons like poison darts or the Pirate's pistol. Some of these special weapons create an instant kill making for wild and exciting battles.
The fighting style of the game is like an average fighting game except each warrior is as realistic as possible. There are no fire balls or insane combos, though there are fatalities added for fun. New warrior characters will be added in the future, but the ones so far are from the ancient ages to avoid being controversial.
So how is the game?
The game suffers from a few problems that may ruin it for gamers. The animations are often glitchy, the voices are poorly recorded, and the enemy AI is so difficult that it is just plain annoying. However, if you can get around these problems then you will find yourself with a very fun game. The game is extremely bloody which can get old pretty quickly--it seems ridiculous after a while when each character is covered in blood after a few hits. Battles are quick-paced and with so many weapons to choose from they are different each time. This game is best when played online or with a friend to avoid the difficult AI. Reviewers give it a 6/10.
