Deadly Beauty

Be Careful when Choosing a Soul Mate

mmog37
Luscious and green

if ya know what I mean

enticed by the color

and the beauty that I'd seen

too good to be true

like an urban oasis

eyes all aglow

not a hair out of place and

not a spot, blemish or wrinkle

when it came to the face

But dark is an understatement

when it came to her soul

so deprived of light it was

like an outer space black hole!

they had warned me to beware

when searchin for a soul mate

because outer beauty is misleading

and could result in an ill fate!

Like a lion stalkin it's prey

she cunningly lay in wait

and with nose wide opened

I fell for the bait

I shoulda seen it comin

but I was lookin with the wrong eye

and by the time she was finished

all I could do was cry

so let this serve as a lesson

when choosin a soul mate

outer beauty is misleading

and can result in an ill fate!

    Well done! Fun while insightful.

I don't know how I missed this one, but it's great to hear a male perspective on this subject. Nicely done!

I loved this word play and so quick and fun, yet enticingly true and vivid. Learning the realities of the beasts within us. Absolutely wonderful words of rhyme.

WOW! How true is this? I have been there myself! Sometimes outer beauty is but a trap for the unwitting prey! Great job with this work here!

:) I'm loving the comments and input. Yes my wife has seen this mike, fortunately I got the total package with her inner beauty with the outer shell to match my own personal proof that there is a God ;)

As the first MALE respondent here, I do believe you are walking a fine line. Has your spouse seen this? "Oh, Mmog, thank you so much, apparently I am not so flat-out good looking as that one babe you encountered in our pre-life, but I am a much better soulmate and you learned your lesson that outward beauty is not so important, and then you found me ....." Blah, blah, blah. (I am only being semi-serious here, but that means I AM being SEMI serious.) ..... I will say that in my very own limited experience before encountering my bride, among my few more-than-once dates, the girl (I was young so I will say girl instead of woman) who would be the top candidate for being a model was indeed not a soulmate in any way, I just repeated the dates and wasted time because of the outward looks. So bottom line, yuour poem is spot-on. Still I don't know if the missus should see it. -- Mike
