Anxiety attacks can really be stressing and to get hold and control over them needs focus and realization of the problem. There are several books to help you cope with panic attacks or you can talk to your health provider and discuss your concerns in detail so they can give you countless suggestions on how to deal with them.

It is wrong to say living a panic-free life is easy, because it is not. But, teaching and training the mind how to react in different events in life is possible.

Tips on Coping with Anxiety and Panic Attacks

There's a new therapy being used today called Panic Away, this was authored by a former anxiety sufferer, Barry Joe McDonagh. Speaking from experience will help you transform your own life of panic to that of pleasure and fun. Read more books like those of McDonagh and get hints on how best you can cope up with your anxiety.

Anxiety and panic attacks are a result of both physical and psychological reactions to perceived threats by an individual. What's important is learning to decide whether the threat is something real or not.

Panic attacks can happen to anyone at any time, which can be risky especially if a person perceives danger that is not real and may place that person in an even riskier situation like accidents and injury.

Anxiety and panic attacks are caused by several factors like traumatic events in life that were not resolved. It is very important to treat panic symptoms early to prevent serious complications like a major depression syndrome that can be life threatening if left untreated. There are common anxiety disorders that need special management.

Panic Disorder - is common to young people ages 15 to 20, they usually happen suddenly with no particular reason; they just happen suddenly leaving a person with great feelings of fear and panic.

Phobia - is unexplainable fear of things that are normally not threatening.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - is simply a fear of losing control of one's surroundings that's why people resort to doing ritualistic activities that sometimes affect daily living.

Agoraphobia - is the fear of being caught with the perception of no escape.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder - is characterized by too much worrying over no particular thing that is present for more than 6 months already.

Social Anxiety - is a general panic felt by an individual when faced with social situations when they do not know how to react.

There are signs that can be seen to indicate an anxiety disorder, some of them include: shortness of breath or difficulty of breathing, excessive perspiration, numbness of arms and legs, dizziness or lightheadedness, unexplained headaches and sometimes nausea and vomiting.

The physical symptoms of pounding heartbeat and shortness of breath are usually the result of increased fight or flight hormones that may sometimes cause feelings of physical discomfort. The rapid breathing on the other hand causes hyperventilation resulting to decreased levels of CO2 in the blood and lungs; these causes the feelings of dizziness, lightheadedness and headaches.
