The summer is blistering across America this season and you might find yourself running around feeling like a Yeti if you've got excessive back hair. While back hair is often the butt of jokes, if you are the one with the extra follicles it is no laughing matter. Men often have at least some hair on their backs and it is perfectly natural. Some men might want to get rid of their back hair to make themselves more attractive to the opposite sex, but some women don't even mind it. Make sure that you really want to change your back hair before you go through with a procedure because hair removal is often an ongoing process that takes maintenance. You might find yourself having to repeat procedures as often as several times a month. If you have decided that you want to change or eliminate your back hair, here are some tips and methods to get you started.

Trimming

A great non evasive way of dealing with back hair is trimming. You can purchase a nice trimmer set or use one that you already have at home. They even make back hair trimmers now that have extensions on them so you can use them yourself. If you don't have access to one of these a buddy or lady friend can easily help.

Start out with a longer setting first, then move down in settings until you get a uniform hair length that you are satisfied with. Blend in the hair length at areas like the arms and legs so it looks more gradual in these places and seems more natural. You can even shave the hair fully off but this can cause a prickly back. While the prickly back might not bother you too much, it can be uncomfortable to someone who sleeps with you and wants to cuddle your back.

Waxing

While waxing is a great option, maintenance is needed up to three times a month to keep results. Most people do not realize that waxing is not always a long term solution. It is best to consult a professional beauty assistant or waxing salon for this procedure.

Hair Removers

You can use a product like Nair for men to safely remove back hair. Some people find the results from hair removers on par with those from waxing. This can cause breakouts though if you have sensitive skin. Test an area of your back first and make sure the results are good for you. If no irritation occurs after the test you can proceed to larger areas of the back.
