Dealing with the Blows of Winter to Your Body

As we know the ground hog didn't see his shadow and spring is supposed to come soon. But we can tell that winter isn't going to let go of us that easily. It's going to give its last hurrah before it blows itself out and lets spring to take it's place. While winter rages still we need to keep in mind that we need to keep our bodies in fit condition. The loss of humidity and just the cold period can do damage on the body more than you can imagine.

With the cold comes a drop in humidity. You want to remember this because it gets worse when you're inside than outside sometimes. A drop in humidity can cause easier breathing but also an over abundance of mucus to start flowing. Your sinuses are trying to protect themselves from drying out by causing more production of snot. Yes snot. To help the battle of dry and achy sinuses try a saline nasal spray. It's nonaddicting and can help a lot.

The cold and wind will definitely dry your skin out causing irritation and pain. Not just to your hands and face but all over your body as the air in your home loses humidity. Remember to moisturize often with either lotions or soaking in a tub of oils. Showers can just progress the problem of dry skin so try to avoid them if possible. Carry a small tube of lotion around for your hands if you constantly use them during the day. It helps to have that little bit of protection. Winter is the time to pamper yourself so go for the lotions and oils. Don't leave out your partner either. After a nice shower or bath offer to douse them in a good bit of lotion and give them a mini massage. They may give you one in return!

Your hair can become like your skin. Watch how you take care of it because it becomes more brittle in the winter and less forgiving if not taken care of constantly. Use a very good conditioner that moisturizes from the ends to the roots. Don't rub your hair with a towel as this also causes more damage. Pat your hair and then let it air dry if possible. Use a conditioning spray to help detangle and condition your hair. It helps a lot if you keep the routine of moisturizing your hair up.

Keep in mind that if you any sort of heating in your home it takes out moisture from the air. Try and replace that moisture with a humidifier. If not throughout the house, in your bedroom at least. It will help your sinuses because they won't be so dry. Humidifiers will also help keep down the buildup of static electricity. That will be helpful in itself because you don't want to get a shock every time you decide to give your partner a kiss on the cheek.

Hopefully these tips will help you in your winter woes. I know I follow several of these and it has helped out a lot with my dry skin and rats nest of hair. Don't exactly have a humidifier set up right now but it would be a definite help. A last tip I'll leave you with. Remember to keep up everything. Never let the humidifier run dry, always keep lotion about, and try to do other things to protect your body. Finally don't forget to dress as warmly as you can so you can stay healthy and comfortable. Enjoy the season!
