Herbal Cures and Ways to Deal with Headaches and Migraines

Christian K. Martinez
Headaches are pesky, annoying and occasionally debilitating. They plague us all of the time and have a variety of causes...all of which are unpleasant to begin with. We often find ourselves taking medications to deal with them, to get them out of our way, however we don't realize that there are natural herbal remedies for headaches that don't require us to take medications at all.

The most common headaches we can get break down into three categories Cluster Headaches, Migraines and Tension headaches. All have slightly different root causes and can be dealt with by using different remedies and cures.

Migraine headaches are very painful and usually begin in a single area of your head and then spread sometimes they become more severe after exposure to light or from extended motion. They can cause nausea, vomiting and altered vision. They are also occasionally preceded by depression, restlessness, loss of appetite and irritability. Nutritional supplements that can help with migraines and other headaches are magnesium, and vitamin b2. Herbal remedies that can help you deal with migraine headaches are Ginkgo Bilboa and Feverfew. Feverfew being the primary cure that should be used to help deal with headaches taking just a cup or two of feverfew tea a day goes a long way towards preventing and dealing with all kinds of headaches.

Cluster headaches are extremely painful much like migraines. They usually show themselves through several intense headaches during a pretty short time period. Cluster headaches that last over a year might be chronic and you should consult your doctor for further treatment. A nutritional supplement that can help you deal with cluster headaches is melatonin. Taking cayenne supplements or eating cayenne pepper in your foods can help you deal with cluster headaches.

Tension headaches are usually a dull and persistent pounding at the back of your neck that spreads agonizingly to the base of your head. They often also induce insomnia, irritability (let's be realistic here....all headaches cause irritability, none of us like it when our head's hurt) and extreme fatigue and tiredness. A nutritional supplement that can help with tension headaches is l-5 hydroxytryphtophan. Herbal remedies and cures for the Tension headache is pretty much limited to feverfew and then peppermint tea and peppermint oil rubbed into the back of the head and neck.

I hold nothing against medication, and for many it proves very affective. However there are all natural, herbal remedies for many conditions that people resort to medication for. Instead of pouring the chemicals in medication into your body, you can use these cures and remedies here to help deal with your troublesome and irritating headaches.
