Dealing with Psoriasis

Kaya Cassan
Do you have psoriasis? Have you tried everything and nothing seems to work? Well it seems psoriasis is similar to most skin problems it is linked closely to stress. For example, eczema and acne are closely linked to stress. Are these skin conditions really about our skin or our emotional state?

Psoriasis is defined as patches of skin that may be thickened and reddened and covered with silvery scales. It usually does not itch, but does cause discomfort and cosmetic embarrassment. Areas most commonly affected are the arms, elbows, behind the ears, scalp, back, legs and knees. Does this sound familiar?

Recent studies are now finding that it is not necessarily a skin disorder. Studies are saying that it may be directly related to stress and environment. It is more of an inherited metabolic disturbance triggered by environmental and stressful conditions, insufficient diets or even death of a family member. This condition has a range of reasoning for why it pops up but there basically are no known reasons or causes. But, psoriasis is when the new skin is being produced ten times faster than the old skin is being shed. And, the compound of this new skin is the thickened patches which is identified as the psoriasis patches. Mild cases of psoriasis have been healed with moderate sunlight and ultraviolet light. It usually occurs between the ages of 15 and 30 and patience with psoriasis have a much higher incidence of rheumatoid diseases.

There are some natural alternatives one can do to help minimize Psoriasis episodes such as Dead Sea Salt. It can be used daily on the skin or in baths to help heal psoriasis. The baths can also help with dietary allergy issues as well. It is recommended that a pound of sea salt is put in a bath at body temperature for 45 minutes every day to do the trick. It is also important to exercise frequently by jogging and building up a good sweat. Stress reduction exercise such as deep breathing and yoga may also be beneficial.

Other alternatives:

-apply seawater to skin several times daily

-apply aloe vera gel

-apply linseed or avocado oil

-apply capsaicin cream

-avoid acidic food and juice

-drink natural juices of apple, carrot, beet, cucumber, grape

-Vitamins: A, B Complex, B6, C, B12, Zinc, Folic Acid, Lecithin, hydrochloric acid, fish oil, omega-3 essential fatty acid

Please not all recommendations are just that I am not a doctor.
