With rising gas prices and economic hard times, there is one thing that is plentiful in lives everywhere today: stress. Sometimes you feel like you have too much to do and too little time. Here are a few helpful hints in managing your stress levels.

When you wake up in the morning, leave yourself enough time to get ready, eat breakfast, and relax. Starting off the day usually sets the pace for how things will go. Take a few minutes to grab some coffee and breakfast, having an empty stomach is not a good start. Your mind will be more sharp and you will be quicker to make decisions with more energy that breakfast provides. The key to your morning routine is to eliminate as much rushing around as possible. It will help eliminate your stress from the start.

Whether you're rushing the kids to school, or off to work, commutes can make or break your day. Make sure you have your vehicle ready to go the night before, whether its getting gas our routine safety maintenance. Leave with more than enough time, plan to arrive at your destination fifteen minutes early to ensure you're on time. That way you won't have to rush. Take a deep breath, and listen to some relaxing music to uplift your spirits and set the tone for the day. Make the car ride to wherever you're going be one that doesn't create a chaotic scene for the rest of your day.

When you get to work, keeping stress levels in check are the key. Try to be efficient but don't worry. If you worry a lot, you have more stress. Take regular breaks, and time for yourself. Dealing with co-workers can be hard and stressful at the same time. If you make a mistake at work, don't let it kill the rest of your day or week. Remember you are only human, you can only do what you can do.

After work, many people run errands and rush around to get things done. Set the pace and stretch out your errands throughout the week. That way you don't have to rush around and do a million things at one time. Plus, many other people rush out to do errands after work, odds are you will run into wait times and lines at places like the grocery store, bank and such. Bring along an I-Pod or music player, this will calm your spirits while help keeping you focused on a goal.

At night, kick back and relax. Make fixing dinner and house chores something the entire family does together. That way, its not all up to you to get it done. Spread out the work and make games out of it. Make sure you have at least an hour to yourself to do something that you want to do. That is the key to unwinding after a busy day.

Plan routine vacations, whether long term or just a weekend away. Getting away from your stressors will help you to feel better and have less worries. Sometimes taking a step away can help you deal with things better. Everyone needs a break every now and then.
