Head aches are never fun. Head aches are common though. Most adults experience a head ache more than twice per month. Not all head aches are related to stress. A good bonk on the head will cause a head aches, as will the flu. Improper diet can also cause headaches. Consuming too much sugar will do it as will malnutrition or vitamin deficiencies. Stress is a cause of headaches too. This article discusses headaches caused by stress.

When the human body feels emotional stress physical changes take place. Your heart beats faster and is forced to work harder. Respiration increases and breathing becomes faster and sometimes irregular. Stomach acids are released. Nausea or heartburn will often result. Chemicals are released in the body. Blood vessels constrict and cause head aches.

Stress head aches come at stressful times in ones life. Maybe a job was lost or a child is acting up terribly. Maybe a bill is due and there is no money to pay it or you are having a fight with your best friend or spouse. All of these situations, and like situations, can leave a person feeling stressed. When the stress that is felt emotionally is recognized by the body a headache is often the result.

To make a stress headache go away is not as easy as taking a pain reliever. Many people find that pain relievers do not work as well, if at all, for stress headaches. The reason why is because a pain pill cannot make the situation better. It is the situation that is causing the headache and the only way to really make the headaches go away and be gone for good is to remedy the situation.

Pain relievers can help a little. They can at least keep the headache from turning into a full blown migraine. A stress headache can and will escalate into a migraine if it is not fought off quickly. Take a pain reliever as soon as you begin to feel the headache. Have a glass of water or juice with it to prevent stomach upset. A light snack is a good idea too.

Once you've had a pain reliever, some fluids and a snack it is best to take some time to relax. Really, it doesn't matter if you have things to do or not. If you don't take it easy and let the headache ease you will end up with a migraine. Curl up in your favorite chair with a blanket or lay down on the couch for a while. If you are home with the kids laying on the couch works well when your not well because you can hear and see your kids. Even if you don't feel up to playing they still must be supervised.

As you are relaxing try to examine the stress that is causing the headache. Identify it. What is wrong? Why is it wrong? The only way to make the headache fully go away never to return is to rid yourself of the stress. Once the stress is identified you can then brainstorm for options and solutions.

As you relax tell yourself that the headache will ease. The problem can be solved. All problems have solutions and this one is no exception. Feel the pain begin to recede. Think of things that you can do to make the situation better. When you've come up with those things think about how you could do them. When you begin to feel better take the steps to resolve the situation. Once the situation is resolved the headache will be totally gone. Thanks for reading and take care!
