DeAnna Pappas on The Bachelorette

Irene Randall
I have been watching the Bachelorette on ABC. I admit it. I watch it because I am bored. On a hot sticky summer evening it is a mindless waste of a couple of hours. It is really too hot to do much else. Last night was the final three and the men tell all episodes.

DeAnna had her one on one dates in the Bahamas. All three men professed their love for her. Jeremy held hands and walked on the beach with her. Jason kayaked with her even though neither of them had ever done it before. Jesse rode horseback with her in the ocean. It was all very romantic until they showed the out takes and DeAnna couldn't control her horse. There was a handler nearby not to mention all the camera people.

When evening came, each man readily accepted the fantasy suite. Jesse played around a little and said he would have to meet her father first, but quickly admitted to joking. My question, and I can't help myself, is did you really sleep with all three men and Brad, too? I will never know, I guess.

At the end of the show I really didn't know who she would let go. All season she had been saying how perfect Jeremy was. But, I think what they really had in common was the loss of their family members. She has lost her Mother and he has lost both parents. In the span of a lifetime, that is really not enough to build a life on. I think he truly had feelings for her, but she did not feel love for him. She let him go.

On the Men Tell All part of the show, amongst screaming young women, they talked a little about their feelings. Graham is the I can't commit guy. He is the one we all fall in love with and get our hearts broken. We know he is not committed, but we want him anyway. Ron was totally obnoxious in most of the episodes he was in. We all know that guy. Shawn is the Momma's boy. Twille was the jokester. He is fun to have around, but you can't get below the surface easily. Fred is the nice guy. Probably would make the perfect husband, but just not exciting enough. Richard was the nerd. They get looked over a lot but, most of them make great husbands. Jeremy is the perfect man. But, can any woman stand up next to that much perfection? And last, there was Mr. Howler with the tatoos all over him. Can we say, "give me a break?"

DeAnna came out and had some words with some of the men and at the end I felt nothing. I really don't have a clue to which man she will choose. At the end of a hot sticky evening, it had not changed my life at all.

Can a woman meet a man, fall in love in six weeks and have it last? Probably not. But, I met my husband, married him twelve weeks later and am now coming up on forty years of marriage. I hope the man DeAnna chooses is right for her and they live semi happily ever after. Life is not a bed of roses after all! There are always a few thorns along the way!
