Dear Addict - Signed, Your Co-Dependant

The Letter He Will Never Read

Deana Marshall (Baconator)
I want to tell you I know you're not medicating for the sole purpose of pain.

I want to tell you I know that the last illegal prescription you obtained only lasted a week.

I want you to know that I know you are crushing the pills and snorting them now. I want you to know, I know you are not only taking two a day as you claimed.

I want you to know you cannot use the same excuse, that you cannot find your insurance card to go to the doctor to legitimate your claims of pain.

I found your card in your wallet.

I want you to know, I know you are a full-blown addict, but I am afraid to tell you.

I want you to know I am scared everyday that your heart will stop or you may stroke.

I want you to know that what you are doing is not just hurting you but all that love and care for you.

I want you to know I think it is so unfair that you are making me keep this secret out of your fear of losing your job if it should come out in the open. And out of how your family would feel about it.

If something happens to you, I have to live with that guilt for the rest of my life!

I want you to know I hate that I do not have the courage to expose your secret, and that makes me feel like a failure to you and your family.

I want you to know that I love you but there are times I just want to run.

I want you to know I fear the reality that it is only going to get worse if I don't tell.

I don't want our children to suffer, yours or mine.

I want you to know that living a clean life is not as scary as you think or imagine.

It is better! You will feel better and live longer!

I want you to know we want you around until you are very old and gray.

I want you to know we do not care if you cannot get 50 things done in one day, your claim for needing this evil in your life.

We would be happier having you healthy and only achieving one thing!

We love you!

Don't you get it?

There is nothing that none of us would do for you to help you beat this.

But you will not get this letter because I fear.

What, I am unsure of, maybe it was the anger I saw in you when I found out what was going on.

Maybe I fear the ultimatum, and it will risk the good parts we have aside from the addiction.

But I want you to know, we are here for you, and we want you here for us.

I want you to know I love you.

Love your Co-Dependant.
