Dear Dad

towongfoo27
Why won't you talk to me,
I miss you so much,
It's driving me crazy,
Wish I had a hug or a gentle father's touch.

Why are you holding a 1,000 year grudge,
Can't you see that I need you,
Are you so proud you won't budge,
I love you, I do.

Dad, I am sorry,
I didn't mean to hurt your feelings,
Who's going to someday give away my dowry,
It was just bad dealings.

I think about you all the time,
Ever since seeing on-line your picture,
there's no reason or rhyme,
You have become like a permanent fixture.

I wish I knew my dad,
Just to see him smile,
It would make me so glad,
I've waited quite a while.

Can't you give me a break,
Don't you know why I bother,
You, I would never forsake,
For you are my father.

No one is perfect,
Neither you nor me,
Let's not waste anymore precious time by being "correct,"
Why can't you see?

I am just a silly kid,
Why wants her father's attention,
Your kid,
From and of your creation.

I tried to write,
Then I gave up,
Support encourages me for the good fight,
You I don't want to give up.

Hearing from you is like a breath of fresh air,
Just to hear your voice,
About you I do care,
Please give this a choice.

I didn't ask to be born,
Always longing for that relationship,
About all this, sometimes I feel torn,
I need your friendship.

Friends don't stay mad forever,
They are priceless to each other,
Cause the friendship they'd never sever,
A good friend is like no other.

Please give it a chance,
Want to hold your hand,
I still want my daddy daughter dance,
Love has no plan.

Sometimes things happen for a reason,
To love, forgive, and move forward,
For there's always a season,
Your vision is what I move toward.

I just want to know you for you,
Nothing more nothing less,
I just want to love you,
And move forward in the way that's best.

Dad, I am part of this family,
Your flesh and blood,
Not just an anomaly,
Nor a dud.

I have so much life to me,
Full of earnestness and hope,
I got to be me,
If the both of us together can cope.

I hope I never turn my child away,
It is vital to listen,
When she/he has so much to say,
Cause that connection, we are both missing.

Dad, love is more than sweet flower or words,
It is also pain, joy, despair, and compromise,
It is the shepherd gently coaxing his herds,
Loving, firm, and wise.

Love is the only engine of survival,
Full of blessings and song,
It is like a church revival,
Where you feel you belong.

Love also teaches us about life,
Struggling from paycheck to paycheck,
Sometimes it can be full of strife,
Makes you want to take a rain-check.

I enjoy writing as a vehicle not only to express myself, but also to get the word out. I also enjoy politics, and the politics involved in articulating a good piece.  View profile
