Dear 'Life' : Thank You!

Caryn Murray
When I asked for help, you gave me help.

But it was not the help I asked for.

Thank you!

I wasn't asking for strength to help me get through another day. I was asking for strength to just 'give up.' You answered by sending me an angel, who changed my life for the better.

I was living in that crackhouse, and I couldn't see anything better for me. I was going to all my classes in college, keeping my schoolwork a priority, even with all the 'snow boarding' I did. I tried to get out of that house, and get an apartment. It was school that made me lose my job, and the irony led me to blame you.

I was so mad at you... I just wanted it to end! 8 years of suffering was enough. Everything had been downhill for so long, and I just couldn't take it anymore! So I asked you for the strength to die.

You gave me strength. The strength of love and acceptance. The strength of being needed. The strength of being loved. The strength of having a child. The strength of moving on, finally away from the endless maze full of dead ends.

Most importantly, you gave me the strength of hope.

Hope that things can get better.

Hope that my dreams are still possible. You have already made so many of my dreams come true.

I know now that it is never too late for things to change. Thank you for teaching me that.
