Dear Mr. Childress

Letter to the Vikings' Head Coach..

Dear Mr. Childress,

I wanted to go ahead and write this letter to you today while you are still feeling good about stomping the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoffs. I do mean stomping too. The 44-7 dismantling of the supposed hottest team in the NFC that no one wanted to play was one of the greatest performances ever for Brett Favre. It was statistically his greatest postseason game ever.

That got me to thinking about all that has transpired since his last NFC title game in '07. That's right, just two seasons ago Brett played in the very same game that you are gearing up for this week. After the loss in '07 everyone started with the drama of will Favre retire or not. Green Bay told Favre that they had moved on after his one month long "retirement" when he decided that he wanted to come back. His performance the next season at the Jets was great until he suffered a shoulder injury.

Next, he came to Minnesota at the end of training camp and performed his best for a season. He has your organization one game from the Superbowl in his first year there. Don't you want the chance to be back there next year? Are you ready to go back to Tavaris Jackson?

My suggestion is to go ahead and tell Favre and the media that he WILL be back next year and there are no other options. The Vikings will not ask him if he will retire or not. You will sign him to a 3 year contract with a few "Oldman" clauses. No OTA's, no offseason program, and no training camp. Let him come in the week of the first preseason like this season so that he will be healthy and rested.

Look what it did for you this year...so go ahead Mr. Childress and ensure yourself another winning season(Favre has only had one losing season...ever) by letting everyone know that Favre is coming back, whatever it takes. No questions asked. Done.

Thank You,

Chuck Fisher

P.S. This was written before the Vikes lost the NFC Championship game. I still feel the same way.
