Dear Santa- My Christmas Wishes

Dear Santa,

I hope this letter finds you well and in jolly spirits. It has been quite some time since I wrote to you myself. Normally, my children send you their long wish lists for the Christmas season but this year I decided to write to you personally with a couple of wishes of my own. I'm not sure if the economic crisis has hit the North Pole so you may or may not know where my wishes are coming from this Christmas season.

My first wish for this Christmas is for my husband to get his job back or to get another job offer. You see, when the economic crisis hit us, we were among the last in line. We had hope that we would pull through because he is a construction worker and well something always needs to be built, right? We were wrong and soon enough the company he was working for went under which means he was laid off and had to start collecting unemployment just so we could meet our bills each month. We have been scrimping and saving so we can make sure our kids have a nice Christmas this year with presents under the Christmas tree. My wish is that you, Santa, could nudge the universe into helping my husband get one of the many jobs he has been applying for. Or maybe you are hiring? My husband can build as good as any of the elves. I'd even be willing to make him a pair of elf slippers so he could fit in.

The next wish on my Christmas list is for my family. Each of them have suffered in their own way with the economy crash and bang. Maybe if you could fix the economy, just a little, so that more jobs are created and healthcare is available to everyone who needs it then maybe my family won't suffer so much. My sister had to struggle to get health insurance for her daughter who is sick and needs to be on a nebulizer at only 5 months of age. She doesn't need to worry about if the health insurance will run out or if she will have it until next week when she is already worried about her kids, working and still trying to be a sane mother. My mom, dad and brother could use a little help too.

The last request on my list is that you make sure each kid who can't afford a toy this year gets one and that you encourage people to donate to Toys for Tots. I can't imagine what it would feel like to not get anything on Christmas and don't want any other child to know it either. So maybe you could get in a commercial and bring a bunch of toys to a Toys for Tots drop off, you know, the one with the marines who stand guard and you could show the world how good it feels to donate?

That is all I ask for now. I hope that you and Mrs. Claus have a wonderful Christmas. Be sure to stop by my house for milk and cookies. I promise we will have goodies for the reindeer too.

All the Best,

Linda

Linda, what a great letter to Santa. I hope you get everything you asked for. This economy has been a nightmare for many of us. Here's hoping your hubby finds a job real soon!

This is a lovely letter to Santa and shows just how much you truly love your children and husband. I, too, hope the economy turns around because we would love to be able to sell our house and move to a safer neighborhood instead of listening to sirens and worrying if our house will be the next victim of arson. I pray your husband finds a job soon. Fingers crossed 2010 will be a happy one.

I hope you get everything you ask for. This recession has been hard on a lot of people. Bless you and stay positive. Things will turn around for you and your family.

Your hubby would make a wonderful elf! I have a bag of new toys that I'm distributing to kids in foster care, thanks for the toys for tots reminder. I may be able to squeak out a few extra after Octobers PV bonus is paid out:) I hope you get all of your wishes that are for everyone but yourself.

This Christmas will probably bring tears to my eyes. The economy is so bad. You know your impoverished when you have to smuggle extra napkins from McDonald's to use as toilet paper in a jam.

Great list Linda. I support Toys for Tots every year even if I have to have a garage sale to raise money to do it. It's just that important. As for your personal wishes, I pray they are answered as well. My fear, however, is that things are only going to get worse. That's why I think we as citizens should take responsibility for one another; share what we have; be supportive; and do anything and everything we can to hold our communities together. To that end, if I can do anything to help you all you have to do is ask.

OK this is awesome! I love the quote you opened with. I know so many families can relate but you have shared a universal story with great words. Best of luck to you and yours and I do hope you get everything on your Christmas wish list!
