I know every year you grace the bottom of our Christmas tree with toys for the children, perfume and makeup for the moms, tools and toys for the dads, and each year our eyes light up with excitement and joy knowing that what we needed and wanted, we just unwrapped. First I want to thank you for all those gifts in the past and let you know how much we loved each and everyone of them. You always get the gift list just right and I guess that is all because you are such a magical person. This year Santa, your magic has to be stronger then ever to create my Christmas list. You are going to have to pull out all the strings, and favors that have been adding up for years. This year I do not only just want something, I truly need it more then anything. This year I need a day from my past to be recreated.
As you are already aware of, this year will mark four Christmas's without my brother, and three without my dad. Each year, Christmas time has gotten harder for me to deal with. Each year my memories of them are falling shorter and shorter. I am starting to forget what they smelled like, how they smiled, and even those cracks in their voices. I am to young to loose my memories, but it is starting to happen to me with no control I can take over it and I don't like the way it feels one bit. I need to relieve one day in my past where my whole family was with one another again for a day. Recreate me a day that was a treasured memory for all of us. Maybe a day at the beach where our family spent so many summer vacations at. I wouldn't mind re-visiting a football game my brother played in and my mom, dad and me sat in the stands cheering for his every move. It could also be a day where we would all be sitting at the dinner table for a family dinner and making jokes and laughing with one another. It doesn't matter what day in the past you choose, all that matters is it is a day where my dad and brother smiled endlessly. Where the hugs were abundant and the kisses were non-stop. A day in the past where my dad called me his woggie and told me how proud he was to have a daughter. A day where my brother and me would wrestle and joke about how we would do this when we were 50 years old together at family get to gethers.
I know my present can't be wrapped in a box, or even stuffed in a stocking. You may not be able to send it down the chimney or place it under the tree, but if you could find a way to give me a day in the past with my family it would mean the world to me. When you start to loose your memories of loved ones lost then you start to loose a little bit of who you are. You start to forget where you came from and how you got to the point you are at now. I don't want to ever forget my brother and dad. I miss them every day more and more, and I never want to loose the memories we have created together. I want to be able to re-create all those wonderful memories for my children. If you could please give me my wish, then I would be able to have the sense of my family for another day longer. Life would all be worth everything.
Thanks Santa, I know I have put a lot on your plate for this time of year, but like I said you are a magical person in which I know you will be able to help me out in my Christmas wish, even if you can only make it happen in a dream.
Merry Christmas-
Amy!
