This year I have a big request. I do not want new clothes, my favorite perfume or that juicer I have been talking about.
Dear Santa, I want my husband to be able to stay home. I want to know that after the New Year I will be welcoming him home from work as always with dinner on the table. I want to know that he is there with me during the evenings and not thousands of miles away in a strange land. I want to look up at the night sky and enjoy the moon and stars with him and not just take comfort in the fact that we are somehow both under the same sky.
Dear Santa I ask you please, I want to know he is okay. Not just physically but emotionally. I want to know that he is not letting things build up. I do not want him to be hiding the fact that he feels lost or has to tuck away all the bad things he sees over. I want to know that he is far away from harm, not in one of the most dangerous places in the world. I want to be able to reach out my hand and touch his. I want to be the one doing his laundry. I want to be there as we discuss the days events in person and not over the telephone or on the computer.
Dear Santa, I want him to be hear to help me raise our four sons. I do not feel I can be both mom and dad. There are so many things he does, certain ways he acts that I just cannot and do not want to compete with. I do not want to have to explain to them their daddy has to leave for a very long year. I want him to be there to help me tuck them in, to help them with their homework and see their football games.
Dear Santa, I do not want to be alone. He is not just my husband but my best friend. Santa if you cannot give me this gift this year, then please do the second best thing and bring him home safely to me. Even if he is damaged a bit, inside or out, please just bring him back to me and I will fix him.
Thank you
from a military wife
