Remember the 80's?
We were young and didn't know,
Where our lives would go.
Oh dear sweet ladies,
Bikini days and nights gone crazy?
We would never age,
Turn the page.
Tan and beautiful,
Working dutiful,
But we didn't care,
Life was still fair.
Oh dear sweet ladies,
Remember the 80's,
Beautiful colorful hair,
Youth was still there.
But then the tides did turn,
How we still yearn,
For the days of beauty,
Innocence so rudely
Stolen from our open hands.
Oh dear sweet ladies,
Don't forget the 80's,
But we must move on,
Our youth may be gone.
We may still long,
For the youth of yesterday,
But I am wiser and sage,
I turn the page.
For though my youth has faded,
I am more jaded,
Stronger, wiser, more content,
With whom I have become.
For all my dear friends, men and women as well. We are the baby boomers. Do you remember?

Post a CommentOh yes, I remember, and I wish I had the knowledge then that I have now. It was a fun time in my life. Nice work.
Magnificent poem. One of my favorites and I like all your poems.
I'm a boomer too
Nicely Written :)
I only miss the '80's because I was young then and because I loved our music. Yet, if given the chance, I wouldn't go back!
Where did the 80's go?
Oh, yes I remember the 80's and, yes, I'm glad to be wiser. :-)
Ah, well put.
Ah yes, we baby boomers do remember. Lately I've been looking for bathing suits that go halfway down my legs!
