Death by Choice

What's it like to be diagnosed with a terminal illness especially when it could have been avoided?

If like me you have over the past 40 year's made a New Years Eve resolution to quit smoking have a read of the following then decide for yourself I promise this is not a down on smokers. If you find the information any use feel free to pass it on.

Waking up one morning last year fighting for breath I was rushed to Hospital, once there I was quickly diagnosed with COPD. COPD includes Emphysema and Chronic Bronchitis, both are incurable and both lead to a life of dependency relying on many medications, oxygen machines and inhalers. You can for a while lead a relevantly normal life but the disease is progressive and the end result is certain.

Did I know the dangers of smoking? Of course I did and in-fact I even wrote an article entitled The Cigarette or Death in a Tube while still smoking, about a year ago. My message is simple if you do smoke don't do as I did, don't wait until you have to rely on machines at least have a go and stop smoking now. Give yourself a chance unlike me, to see the Grand Kids grow up (the feeling of guilt here is horrendous) so don't let this happen to you enjoy your retirement.

That's it guys have many happy and healthy years to come

Kind Regards
