Texas Condemned Man Patrick Bryan Knight Wishes to 'Die Laughing'
In his own words, Patrick said "I'll be enjoying my last days on this earth. I'm not asking for any pen pals but I am asking you to spread the word that I am holding a contest. I want people to send me their best jokes, to keep me and the others with dates, laughing!" The best joke, which will be determined by the inmates on death watch and will be recited in my "Last Statement."
A Myspace page was created for Patrick named "Dead Man Laughing" and people are posting jokes on it. Patrick has 73 friends so far, and numerous cartoons and jokes. Most people appreciate that a condemned man has such a sense of humor, and chooses to "die laughing." Inmates do not have access to computers, and the page was created at his request by a friend. Music by Marvin Gaye is playing on the site, "What's Going On."
Knight was convicted in 1991 for the execution style murders of Walter and Mary Ann Werner. Knight lived in a trailer next to the elderly couple at the time of the murder, and was questioned by police. Knight eventually led the police to the location of the bodies. Codefendant in the case Robert Timothy Bradfield was sentenced to 2 life sentences and will be eligible for parole in the year 2009.
In January this year, Knight and approximately ten other inmates participated in a hunger strike at the Polunsky Unit in Texas to protest what he called the deplorable conditions the death row inmates endure. Knight was one of the last inmates to end the strike.
Knight will be executed on June 26, 2007 by lethal injection. Texas leads the nation in executions and has executed fourteen inmates. Eleven states had halted executions to review the method, lethal injection, to see if it may be cruel and unusual.

Let's start with "IT" : You're an idiot.
Now on to "Justin Case" : If by "Dr. Death you are referring to Jack Kavorkian, you are a bit on the exagerated side when you say he has killed hundreds. It seems as though you were going for the "How's he any different from ol' Patrick" angle. Bottom line...he isn't. Both need a needle in the bend of their arm. As for the question you ask: "Who gave us that right to say hey he's a murder, a low life and deserves to spend 16 years in prison and then be executed"? Uhh... HE DID! HE put himself on the table. HE and his buddy EXECUTED that old couple. No If's and's or but's about it, THEY EXECUTED THEM IN COLD BLOOD. I will go along with one part of your question...IT DANG SURE SHOULDN'T HAVE TAKEN 16 YEARS TO GET TO THE NEEDLE! And as for your being ashamed for those of us who call ourselves "Christians"...save your pity. We don't care what a moron like you thinks about us. Strap him down. Find a vein. "Roll on 1!"
all i know is if I had a family member on death row I woulld go on a ranpage . I would go out and kill as many people as i could and then i would kill myself. how can anybody let some state kill their family member
More power to him. He did commit a heinous crime and also spent 16 years in prison. Dr. Death killed hundreds of people and only spent 8 years in prison. Death is death folks and who are we to judge. Who gave us that right to say hey he's a murder, a low life and deserves to spend 16 years in prison and then be executed. For you people who call yourself Christians... I'm ashamed.
Bottom line...did the poor couple have the opprotunity to say anything before they were brutally murdered? Likely not, the only thing he should be able to say is asking god for forgiveness...well looks like his life is now over, may the lord have mercy on his soul...
