Death...An End to My Misery

Mag Inzire
Jack loved to take chances on everything from money to love. It was an endless story with him and although I have never wished any harm to him, he finally got what he deserved. When we were young he found such great thrill in cheating people out of their earnings, mostly by telling them about some "fake fortunes." Oh, how ignorant they all were believing his stories, including myself. Deep down I knew that someday it would have to end.

When he came by two nights ago and told me about the high stakes poker game that he was involved in I automatically felt that something was not right, but deep inside I refused to tell him. I'm not sure why I refused maybe it was in hopes that it would go wrong.

All those years that he had used me, robbing me from life, and yet I continued to stay by his side. I followed his every damn dream, this relentless power that he had over my soul and mind is not even comprehensible. I allowed myself to go twenty years of turmoil and for what?

Today I get the call that will forever set me free. They only state that I must go and identify a body at the county morgue and then I hear a dial tone. Suddenly I feel a sense of calmness take over my grief stricken body that has held me as a prisoner for all these years.

As I look down at a cold Grey metal gurney and see a soulless man that took my virginity unwillingly along with the rest of my existence, I start to smile. Not only do I smile I start to laugh loudly not caring if anyone thought I was insane. This was the sanest moment of my life but how else would anyone know this.

He wanted it all but when he was caught cheating at my high stakes poker game as I knew he would be, he received what he deserved all along. One bullet to the head became his earnings and even that may have more than what he was worth.

Now it was my turn to yield the earnings. Oh, if Jack only knew that his misfortune has now become my fate. The hardest part of the game was making them believe that Jack was the real mastermind embezzler. One thing that Jack never had was the brains behind the schemes. He was able to commit the act but without me he would not have known which role to play. Finally, I now have aced all the rewards.
