Debt

Junior
Indebted to man no more

I have reached that distant shore

Where the seas lead back home

And zero is the score

Debt is only in my head

What is on paper is only a part

A paper part of bookkeepers' books

To be stored away where no one looks

But money is an ocean

And life is a setting forth upon open seas

Winds that were perilous just days ago

Are now a harmless summer breeze

Banks, like one-eyed cyclopses, hurl their rocks in vain

Their monstrous service charges cannot cause pain

Suntrust shines its beams and all I see is light

Financial learning to quicken and inform my flight

Advertisements, like sirens, sing a sweet and voluptuous song

"Tie me to the mast!" my soul, that I may endure them so long

When all is done and all is spent,

Bills payed, electric, food and rent,

A dollar sign is the farthest thing from my mind

As my soul sings a song of endless time

The endless time that is mine to learn and adjust and rise

To follow dreams, to follow my spirit to the skies

Time heals all, and time is on my side

In youth and in innocence I shall reside

Bobby, Tam told me about your woes. From ashes comes the Phoenix of inspiration.
