Debt Solutions: The Little Things

Jim Posey
It's no secret that gas prices are raising as little well as the grocery bill. Not only are utility providers jacking up the rates of the cost of living is steadily climbing. Compounding all this is the fact that a lot of us don't even have a spare income to donate to these extra expenditures. Add a high amount of debt and you have a formula for personal economic disaster.

Sometimes it's the little things that can make the biggest difference with your budget. This is how people can supplement their income without going through too much time and effort and without having a loss of quality of life.

A lot of options to supplement your income are actually hobbies that people enjoy very much such as going to swap meets. Going to swap meets means, you can sell anything you want for just a few dollars to pitch a tent. If you have a trade hobby like leatherworking or carpentry you can make a fine living just as going to swap meets alone. This is one of those things that you do once a week and may even find enjoyable especially if you happen to practice the craft.

If you're lucky enough to have a spare room don't be scared to rent it out. It's usually fair to ask for about $500 a month just for one spare room. If you live next to a college or university these rooms will be taken up quick and you'll have many students looking to live there.

Another option if you live in a city center is to hire out your parking space. If you have a regular schedule you might be able to rent out your parking space while you're out. This can bring you another $50 a week depending on your location and sometimes even more.

Recycle the things you no longer need. You can do this through any avenues which you want to, whether it be a broad sales or for the more technologically minded eBay. There is always someone looking to get what you have and sometimes you might just be sitting on treasure.

So before you go out there looking to get another job or about to sign your life away to some debt consolidation agency know; you should first look into some of the simpler solutions to earn extra money to pay off your debts.
