September Mourning

Orchiolum
Leaning into the wind

surrounded by yearning

I step from life's edge . . .

no longer saddened

by the last sunset,

or the one dawn,

which will not find me.

An expression of the unimaginable choice faced by those who fell from the World Trade Center Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.

Just the right words to summon up the moment. Wow!

Great poem. It says so much in a very few words. I wish I were good at writing poetry. Alas, I am not...

Capturing such complexity in such a simple, yet moving, way is a truly beautiful thing.

Shudderingly real. Very well expressed, compassionate and empathetic. I cannot imagine what that must have been like to jump knowing you had no choice but to die for smoke inhalation, fire, crushed to death or to just jump. Horrifying.
