The Need for a Ninja Holiday
The popularity of the ninja is undeniable. So many ninja movies have been made that it is impossible to count them all. Web sites such as Ninja Burger and Real Ultimate Power.net boast millions of hits and many fans. So why is it that the ninja don't have their own holiday?
Wait a minute, they do. It is the Day of the Ninja, celebrated on December 5 of every year. December 5, 2006 will be the third annual Day of the Ninja. The holiday was created by the above mentioned web site, Ninja Burger. Recognizing the need for a day designed to celebrate all things ninja, they did what everyone else was afraid to do and created the officially unofficial ninja holiday.
Some, who are aware of the long-running rivalry between pirates and ninjas, will note that pirates already have their own holiday: International Talk Like a Pirate Day (celebrated September 19). Some uninformed individuals might even suggest that the Day of the Ninja is just a rip-off of an already established holiday.
This is most definitely not the case. For one thing, International Talk Like a Pirate Day is in September. The Day of the Ninja is in December. These are two totally different months. Also, while the pirate holiday involves only talking like a pirate, the Day of the Ninja is a day for celebrating all things ninja. In fact, since ninja only speak when they need to (which is rarely), there is not much talking like a ninja going on at all.
How to Celebrate the Day of the Ninja
So just how does one celebrate the Day of the Ninja? If you go to the official web site of the Day of the Ninja, they list some possible ideas. These include: dressing up like a ninja, wearing a ninja mask to work, terrorizing your co-workers and just in general showing off your ninja-ness in any way you can think of. After all, you are a ninja, you know what ninja do!
Don't think that you will have to go out and buy any sort of special ninja uniforms or pay a lot of money for supercool ninja weapons, these can be made easily yourself. For example, by putting a black t-shirt over your head, wrapping the collar around your face and tying the arms behind your head you can make a very simple but very effective ninja mask. Shuriken (ninja-stars) can easily be made from paper. And this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all of the cool ninja stuff you can do to celebrate Day of the Ninja!
Ninja Facts
Here are some important ninja facts you should know to get the most out of the Day of the Ninja, taken from the web site Real Ultimate Power.net
1.Ninjas fight all of the time
2.The purpose of the ninja is to flip out and kill people
For more information about ninjas you can visit the Real Ultimate Power web site.
Now you don't have to fight all of the time and flip out and kill people to be a ninja in celebration of the Day of the Ninja, although you are cooler if you do. Some people just like to dress up like a ninja and threaten others with the Touch of Death while shouting "ai ai ai!" really loud. The possibilities for celebrating the Day of the Ninja are endless, let your creativity run wild!

Post a CommentI'd leave a comment, but ninjas don't talk much.
Another thing to remember about Ninjas is that we're mammals. Forget that, and I just might need to flip out.
