Ebie Harris
Have you ever been confused about what each of the Hawaiian islands offers its visitors? Everywhere you go in Hawaii you will be privileged to spectacular views and incredible weather. Each of the islands vary greatly from one another and they each hold their own unique treasure. There are actually 8 Hawaiian Islands; Niihau, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, The Big Island, Maui, Oahu, and Kauai. Here we will focus on the four biggest of the islands; The Big Island, Maui, Oahu, and Kauai.

The Big Island truly has something to offer for everyone. You will stay busy your entire trip. Just like everywhere else in Hawaii you will be mesmerized with the beauty of the beaches. The sand colors on these beaches of the Big Island range from color shades of white, black, and even green. If you want to see an active volcano then this is the island for you. Kilauea, which has been active for almost 30 years, pulls thousands of visitors in a year just to see her. If adventure is on your agenda then you are in luck. Scuba Diving, parasailing, surfing, and golfing are some of the more popular Big Island activities. If you want to spend your day out on the water but you want to keep your feet dry then go out on a boat excursions. You will be able to tour the best hidden spots of the island by boat. If you are visiting the Big Island during the winter months then be sure to check out the humpback whales. The humpback whales journey down from Alaska to enjoy some of the Big Island's amazing weather.

Oahu is known for its culture. Here you will find a large selection of museums set amongst the gorgeous Hawaiian back ground. On this island you can visit the National Historic Landmark for Pearl Harbor. Once you are done with your museum tours sit back and relax. Oahu offers many upscale hotels, private spas, and five star dining. If you are feeling adventurous sign up for a surf expedition. The North Shore of Oahu boasts 20 miles of coastline for the most daring surfers. Here you will be greeted with some of the largest waves that Oahu offers.

Maui is great destination for honeymooners. In Maui you will be greeted by miles of never ending beaches. These beaches are notorious for being the best in the world. It is not uncommon to find white, black, and red sand beaches in Maui. Even though this island can get very crowded you can always find yourself a secluded spot on the beach. Maui is that picture perfect tropical paradise many of us dream about. This is an island where you can truly sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. Take a snorkel cruise to enjoy some of the ocean life., schedule a helicopter ride to really appreciate the beauty and wonder of the island, or watch a beautiful sunset from the beach. Whatever you decide to do in Maui it is sure to be something to remember.

Kauai is the least crowded of the islands. Many areas of Kauai have not been "built up" so you see simple untouched Hawaiian perfection. To get an understanding of what Kauai offers think back to the last Hawaiian movie you have seen. In the movie where you see people cliff jumping into a beautiful pool of water; this is what Kauai is all about. Many of the islands beaches set inside towering cliffs. Kauai offers you the beauty of Hawaii without overdoing all of today's modern technologies. This is Hawaii at her purest most natural state.

Thank you for your feeback. The briefs about the islands were meant to be a short general statement about my experience at each. I should of included that the Big Island potentially more driving than some of the others. I spent most of my time in the water and did not encounter much driving myself. Thank you for sharing your experience as well:)
