Declutter Your Home to Avoid Hoarding Over the Winter Months

RaddWrites
Clutter isn't the same to everyone. Clutter is a large amount of unused items taking up space in a home. This winter declutter your home to avoid a bigger problem known as hoarding. Massive amounts of like items can pile up quickly. Decluttering isn't for everyone. Decluttering can be over whelming. If you need to declutter your home do so in small steps. A good time to declutter your home would be over the winter months when staying home is more likely to occur.

Set your self up for successful decluttering by having plenty of bags and boxes on hand. Start out small. Everyday take a walk through your home and find 5 things you can throw out. It might be old newspapers or magazines, or maybe a broken knick knack that never got fixed as intended to long ago. Could be a stained coffee cup, or empty cd cases. Everyday make it a point to throw away just 5 useless things.

I find it easier to throw away others things then my own, and who doesn't? I can find 10 things to throw out that doesn't belong to me. I know they are just taking up space and not being of use any longer. Set a box in every room if you must-to collect junk. Mark it with the word donation, and ask family members to add 5 things they don't want or need everyday to the box each day. You will be surprised how quickly the boxes will fill up. When the boxes are full take them to your local donation spot. Don't allow them to sit around defeating the purpose.

As you sit to watch a video at night, bring a drawer with you. Sort threw the contents and relieve your self of unused items. Return the wanted item to the drawer in a neat organized manner or put the items where they rightfully belong. This task frees up needed space and you can do it while sitting down. Every house has tons of hidden clutter, from tiny pieces to large items stuffed into crawl spaces and garages. Your not alone.

You can start with one room. Pick a room. Maybe the kitchen with all the plates and plastic cups shoved into cabinets. Do you really need 57 food storage containers? When was the last time you used that pot with no handle? Can you give it up? How about starting in the bathroom? Small but jammed packed with out dated creams and lotions and who knows what! Old make up and half used bottles of medicines. It's time to throw it out. By doing so you will create space needed for the things you do use in the bathroom.

Oh what a feeling to declutter. It's quite fun as you will feel the rush of being in charge of your home. Clutter can hamper your health, and your creativity. Donate clothes, shoes, books, knick knacks, sporting goods, coats, and any other clutter you no longer need or use. Spend the winter months decluttering and come spring you will feel the rewards. A freshness like no other. Decluttering is a mind set. Just do it.
