Decoding Technology '"My Favorite Labtop

William Reny
Computers have come far since I was a child. The first computer we had was a Commodore 64 with dual floppy drive. At that time it was the best. Times have really changed. Desktop computers got faster, Windows came out, and then the game changed. Every one had to have a home computer. The Internet was new, but starting to grow. Laptops were items for the rich and for business people. Then memory became cheaper and processors became faster, all while everything got smaller.

The prices changed to the point everyone that wanted a Laptop and could purchase one. My favorite Laptop has been my Mac Air. I went through many PC based system Laptops and every time it would happen. Then longer I used it, the slower it became. It seemed like I would have a weekly chores list just to be able to use my Laptops that were PC based. Empty the cookies, clear the downloads, scan for viruses, and check for updates. I hated it! Why should it take so much just to own a system I though was designed to take care of itself. Then on top of everything, to start them up I could go get coffee from the kitchen and come back before they even finished loading.

I purchase my first Apple last October and have not looked back. I travel for work and needed something to replace my PC based Laptop. Like an act from heaven the new Mac Air came out. I went to my local Apple store, where they now know me on first name bases, and asked about needing something to replace what I had. I told the representative my needs, and he pointed me in the direction of the Mac Air.

I played with it and saw that this little gizmo could do everything that my IMac could, yet it was very light and portable. SOLD! I bought it and have been in computing heaven for the last six months. I almost feel like I am neglecting my Mac Air because I have to do nothing to keep its speed up and I have it loaded to be able to travel. PC is dead to me. Apple I am yours to command!

A person can take so much before they decide change is needed. I added a 4 terabyte back-up to my home system. This functions as back up for both the IMac and Mac Air. The only problem I have is ITunes. My spending is defiantly keeping the lights on at Apple, because of updating my movie collection and all the music downloads, to catch up on the music I have not listened to in years. But I am happy and not a slave to maintaining my computers anymore, they finally do it themselves.
