Have a bare wall that you want to decorate? Turn drab into fab with some simple decorating techniques that are unique and can bring life and color to that boring wall. Go to craft stores to get ideas or search the internet. Here are some ideas that are sure to bring life to your bare wall.

DRAPES OR CURTAINS: Use a tall sheer curtain and hang it from the ceiling. Hang it on a rod like you would above a window and let it fall down. Then put a couple of tiebacks on each outer side of the curtain to tie the sides back about half way down. Now simply hang a large, decorative picture or mirror in the middle of the curtain where it is tied back. You will be able to see the picture or mirror peeking through the curtains for a dramatic decorating effect.

PICTURE FRAMES: Use picture frames to hang wall paper swatches or painted paper. If you have some colors in your room that you want to bring out on the wall, simply paint some pieces of paper that color and hang them in picture frames to hang on the wall. You could use the same concept with pieces of cut wall paper or wall border to bring out the color in a room. Hang some small mirrors in between the picture frames to add to the display.

COLOR: Use color on a bare wall. You could simply paint just that bare wall. You do not have to paint an entire room these days. Painting one wall a bright color has become a popular trend to make a wall or a color pop in a room.

TEXTURE: Use wood on the bottom of a wall to bring life to it. You could even use crown molding to bring texture and life to the wall. Paint wood panels white and hang them on the bare wall to bring life to the room and make it appear brighter and larger.

HOLIDAYS: For the holidays you could put green pine garland around the edges of cheap picture frames and place last years Christmas cards in them to hang on your wall. You could even decorate the edges of pictures frames with holiday lights, place Christmas cards in them and hang them where they could be plugged in for some extra holiday glow. Do the same with a large mirror, the mirror will reflect the lights and add a really dramatic effect for the holidays that you will get compliments on all season long.
