Decorating your dorm room for Halloween can be done rather easy and inexpensively. This article will provide some suggestions for Halloween decor for your college dorm room.
Door; Start first with the entrance to your room. You can use both sides of the door. Concentrate on the outside door. You want to give an impression with it. Place the word welcome on it in red. Add a few red drops to make the word look like it is dripping blood from it. Use plain cardboard and make an old wooden coffin. To do this you will need a yardstick and black marker. You can run this design the length of the door.
On the inside of the door, hand white thread from the top of the frame. This will appear to be spider webs. Make it long enough so that it brushes across the visitors skin as they enter the room. You can also place a paper skeleton on the backside of the door.
Windows; Place some black bats on the windows. You can make them out of black construction paper. Save a bat or two to hang from your ceiling light. Use thin thread to hang them.
Mirrors; Place black linen or drapes along the sides of the mirror. If you have candles in safe contained glass containers, place them in front of the mirrors, but away from the curtains.
Zombie; Stuff a short and pair of pants with other old clothes. Use a balloon for a head. Place a mask over the balloon and you have a zombie. You can place it in a chair, lay in a bed, hang it on a clothes hook or even hang it from a rope.
Stuffed Animals; A black cat works great. You can place it on your bed, chair or couch.
Other Halloween Artifacts; You can also put out things like plastic skulls, Jack Lanterns, Halloween masks, rubber snakes and plastic insects.
Music; You can pick up a CD with spooky music at your local music store. This will add to the dorm room atmosphere.
Lighting; Black lights or strobe lights can add to the room. If you have a separate lamp, place it in front of the mirror, in your room.
Decorating your dorm room for Halloween is a great way to celebrate the holiday. Your room can become the main attraction on your floor.
