Give children a simple yet elegant Christmas with decorations for the home that shows love and happiness. Decorating the home for Christmas should be fun for the whole family and show the true meaning of Christmas. This means decorating the living room, kitchen and other areas of the home company or family will be hanging out for Christmas.

Giving children the opportunity to help with Christmas decorations made from nature and items you already have within the home or outside the home.

Walk with your children through the woods behind your home to obtain items to use as Christmas decorations. Items such as pine cones, running cedar and other greenery are perfect for making Christmas wreaths or Christmas centerpieces for your table.

Dining rooms should radiate cheer during Christmas. Have your children create a Christmas centerpiece with the running cedar obtained from the woods. Create the Christmas centerpiece by wrapping the running cedar around a wooden wreath. Use a hot glue gun to make the running cedar stick to the wooden wreath. Next use the glue gun to attach the pine cones. Attach small gold bows and place in the center of kitchen table add a candle holder with peppermint candy inside.

A great way to decorate for Christmas is to have children help decorate the kitchen windows. Have them personalize Christmas stockings and hang them from the kitchen window. Children can decorate the Christmas stockings with peppermint candies and candy canes. Hang from the window with red Christmas bows. You can also decorate living room windows with the same type of decorations.

Another touch of Christmas cheer to add to kitchen windows is aprons instead of curtains. Have children take a solid red, gold or white apron and design drawings of a favorite Christmas scene or any design they want. Once it has finished hang the apron from your kitchen window. Children can do the kitchen tablecloth the same way. It adds beauty and Christmas cheer that your children designed for your home.

For the living room, children can dig up small cedar trees from the woods and place in a container. Let them decorate the tree with any color lights they choose. Let them spray artificial snow from a can onto the tree. Place the finished Christmas trees on each side of the fireplace or beside end tables. Make sure the children water the tree everyday so it doesn't dry out before Christmas arrives.

Children will have fun helping decorate the home for Christmas with one or more of these ideas listed. Decorating the home for Christmas together is the best way to spread Christmas joy.
