Decorate Your Windows for Christmas

Simple and Easy Project for Christmas

Ann Siper
This simple craft project is perfect for the Christmas holiday. Kids and adults can easily do this project in less than an hour. You don't have to have any crafting or artistic skills to create a beautiful display of your window. Pre made Christmas ornaments and products like No Sew make this simple, easy, and fun for anyone.

To Make a Window Ornament Craft Project You Will need:

Curtain Tension Rod (to fit your window)
Fabric
No Sew or Sewing Machine
Christmas Ribbon (A few yards and a few patterns)
Christmas ornaments (6 to 12 depending on how wide your window is)
Scissors
Safety pins (6 to 12, the same number as your ornaments)

Use one of those simple thin white tension rods to hang this project. You don't need to spend a lot of money because you will be covering it.

Now, measure how wide your window is. Multiply that by 2. That is how long you Christmas fabric will need to be. You should make this strip of fabric about 4 inches wide and as along as the number you just factored.

Place the fabric pattern side up. Fold the strip of Christmas fabric in half so that the pattern is now inside. It should now be 2 inches wide and the same length as before. Use your sewing machine to sew the length of the fabric about ½ inch in from the cut edges. You can use no sew for this.

Now, turn your strip of fabric inside out. I like to pin a safely mine at one end. You can use that safety pin to push the fabric through the tunnel you sewed as you turn it inside out.

Now, insert your curtain tension rod though the fabric. Tuck the rough ends in so they are not seen.

You can go ahead and place the newly covered tension rod in your window while your work onto rest of this Christmas decoration.

Cut your Christmas ribbon to a variety of length ranging form about 12 inches to 24 inches long.

Go ahead and loop your ribbon through those holes on your Christmas ornaments. Have the loose ends at the top.

Now, cut out some more ribbon and tie some matching bows out of the Christmas ribbon.

Use your safety pin and push the head of the pin through the knot of the back of the bow. Stick the pin part though the two loops ends of ribbon that the ornament is hanging on. Then, pin the entire thing through the Christmas fabric covered tension rod. You should place your ornaments about 2 to three inches part. Evenly space them and mix of the different lengths of ribbon to create an eye catching display.

Now, in my opinion glass Christmas ornaments look great for this project. I love those wonderful pink, red, blue, green, gold, and even clear round glass Christmas ornament balls. You can mix and match the colors or even do l one color. This variety allows you to change the look of this Christmas decoration for your home from contemporary to vintage in a few simple steps.

You can also use those great reproduction vintage Christmas ornaments if you live in an older home.

To turn this into more of a craft project for the kids why don't you buy some of those clear glass Christmas ornaments, come glass or ceramic paint, and some small paint brushes. They can paint them with any details they want. Puff paint and acrylic also would work well on those glass ornaments. The light can shine through their creation in the day and at night your own lights will let everyone outside see them!
