The Fall season is right around the corner. Individuals love the smell and colorful sights of the season. While we can't do much about the smell of the season, we can always add to the color. This article provides some good ideas for decorating your yard for the Fall.
Straw and Scarecrows
You can do a lot with straw. Place a few bales close to a colorful maple tree. As the colorful leaves fall and land on the bales, they add some great color to the area. You can also place a few pumpkins and gourds on top of the bales.
Some houses like to add a few bales to their porch or deck area. Besides providing a place to sit, you can easily add some seasonal flower pots on top of them.
Scarecrows can be a lot of fun to make. You will need two 2" by 2"s. One should be four feet long and the other about seven feet long. Make a solid cross with these two. Using old Levi's, cut a hole through the crouch area and stuff the inside with straw. Tie off the bottom leg area with twine. Secure the pants to the middle 2 by 2. Regular twine will work. Next place a flannel shirt over the arm posts. To help hold up the pants, secure the shirt to the pant belt loops. Stuff the shirt with straw. (Note; Be generous with the straw.) The head will be your hardest assignment. I have seen old basketballs and volleyballs used. You can use an old pillow case and stuff it with straw into a ball. Then place the opening over the top post and tie it off in the neck area. If you use a pillow case, use paints for your face. Don't forget a hat. Pick a good location and dig a solid hole to hold it. Some people use a concrete block to secure it.
Mums
When it comes to Fall colors, you can't beat Mums. You can place these on your porch steps, along your walk, by your fence gate, along your driveway, on straw bales, around tree trunks, by your postal box and of course along your home. Some people like to coordinate the colors with their homes. Others will use a variation of colors to accent the Fall season. Mums provide you with a opportunity to express yourself artistically.
Wreaths
These can be placed on doors, gates, fences and even on windows. Bent vine wreaths can have colored leaves glued or attached to them. Orange, yellow, brown and maroon ribbons can add to the color as well.
The Fall season provides an opportunity to be creative with color and design. These can last into the first frosty days of the Winter season.

Yaaaaaayyy, Excellent... :o)
Fall is my favorite time of the year!
In New England, the trees do all of the decorating for you. I'm so busy cleaning up leaves in the fall that I barely have time for holiday decor, let alone seasonal. :)
Thanks!
I love fall! Great tips!
