Decorating Your Baby's Nursery

Planning for new baby is a very exciting event. Many parents cannot wait to go out and begin buying baby items as soon as they find out that they are expecting a baby. Along with a baby comes a lot of purchasing. Babies need many things. Most parents feel that their baby needs its own room. Even if the parents are expecting the baby to sleep with them for the first few months, they will still make their baby a nursery.

There are many different options when creating a baby nursery. Much of the planning depends on a theme. If you find out what the baby's gender is going to be, you will likely have an easier time choosing a theme. However, there are themes and items out there that will be appropriate for both a boy and a girl.

One major decision that needs to be made is the tone of the nursery. Do you want a funny tone, a cute, tone, or a more serious sophisticated tone? After you have chosen the tone, you will need a theme for the room.

When choosing at theme you need to consider how long you plan on keeping the room as it is. If you do not plan on changing the room much, you will need a theme that will also be appropriate for a toddler and young child. If you do not mind changing the room, you may wish to go with a strictly babyish theme. The theme is usually carried out through the bedding, decorations, windows covers, and lamps.

After you have a theme, you will need to purchase bedding that coordinates with the theme. After choosing the bedding, begin to decide what color you will paint the room. The color will depend a lot on what will match the bedding.

You will then need furniture. Baby furniture comes in several different varieties. Many people choose from either white wood or stained wood. If your coloring of the bedding and room is a darker color, you will probably be best to buy stained wood. If you are using a pastel color, you may wish to use white furniture. You will need a baby bed, a changing table, and a small dresser for clothing, bibs, and baby items. You may also wish to buy a matching rocking chair.

Next you will need to look for accessories. Many people buy letters to spell their baby's name and hang on the wall. There are many cute pictures and items that match the themes.
