Decorating a Christmas Tree with Candy Filled Pouches

Karen Barnes
I was reading an article about decorating a Sugar Plum Christmas tree. One thing the writer mentioned was filling candy pouches to hang on her tree for her grandchildren. I have used these types of pouches for Halloween and Valentine's Day for my daughter when she was younger and in grade school.

Then I thought, you can find these plastic pouches at Walmart in the wedding and party sections. You may be able to find some in their Christmas section or baking area as well. I know Hobby Lobby has these plastic pouches in their candy making area too. I haven't looked in the Christmas sections of either store.

I never thought about making them for hanging on a Christmas tree. I have used candy canes and a few other types of candies for decorating my Christmas tree, but never thought about going with the Sugar Plum route.

However, for those who buy all kinds of Christmas candy or make your own, using your candies to decorate your Christmas tree in a Sugar Plum fashion could be a way to go. This way, you will not unpack and repack your tree decorations. Your family, friends, and guests can help you eat your way through taking the decorations off of your tree.

I brought up the candy pouches in this article because I am going to provide you with some free printable templates to put your Christmas candy in. There are three links in the source area at the bottom of the article you can use to make your own in conjunction with the plastic decorated candy pouches.

The first candy pouch can be printed off the PDF from the link. You can use Christmas scrapbooking stickers to decorate it. You can also use Christmas ink stamps to decorate some too.

The second link is a crocheted butterfly pouch. You could crochet some in Christmas colored threads to make them fit into a holiday theme. You could also use some of the smaller plastic pouches and slide them inside these crocheted butterflies.

The third link is a crocheted peppermint pouch intended for decorating a tree. This one has a way for you to hang it from your tree.
