People who like to decorate every inch of their house and yard should act a little thrifty this year if they do not want to be the social outcasts. Decorations are meant to cheer people up, but if someone who has lost their job and loves to decorate, but just cannot afford to this year, they will become more depressed if they see decorations everywhere. A few decorations cheer people because it is not blatantly obvious you have something someone else does not.
If you are going to use decorations sparingly, you can still buy new decorations and only use half of them. For the new décor that you use, you may want to buy it from dollar stores such as Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, and Big Lots. If you buy new this year, look like you are making an attempt to be frugal.
Leave room between decorations. Potted plants do not count as fall decorations. Types of decorations that should be used sparingly include wreaths, signage, flags, outside blankets and pillows, fall displays, and lights.
Residents who do not rely on a job as income love to see decorations and usually love decorating. I think the fall décor is cheerful and will brighten most people's moods. Too much décor looks trashy and makes the house or yard look unkempt.
A wreath on the door and one flower display on an outdoor furniture table are seasonal and tasteful on a front porch. If a flag is displayed for fall, it should hang off the porch if it hangs from the porch.
Most front entrances are smaller than a room. If two or three people do not fit comfortably on the porch with the decorations, you know you have over decorated. Décor is supposed to be displayed like furnishings and fashionably fit into an area. Decorations need to add to a room, they are not supposed to take away from the room. Keep this in mind while decorating and you will have a chic fall décor.

Post a CommentSo good to have dollar stores (though I'm old enough to remember dime stores).
Great tips and ideas. I always go to the dollar stores and five and below type places as my first stops! Thanks. : )
