Since pots and pans tend to be costly, you could check out some resale shops. Most resale shops tend to have nice pot and pan sets for a fraction of the cost. Also check out the dollar store where you will find things such as your oven mitts, serving spoons, silverware, plates, glasses, you name it and they will have it. Buying your dinnerware here will allow you to buy what you need, instead of having to buy everything in a set. The dollar store also sell cleaning supplies, soap, toothpaste and other household products that you may need.
Buying furniture for your first place does not have to be expensive, because most furniture stores have a clearance center. When the sales person greets you at the door, let them know that you are shopping for your first place. Be sure to ask if there are any sales promotions going on. Great places to check out are, Jennifer Convertibles and Ikea, these places tend to have great deals all the time and you can visit them online.
If your budget does not allow new furniture, you could check out some stores that sale used furniture. Check out the salvation army, many times they will have nice furniture and the price may even be negotiable. Now that you have found everything that you need. What's your style, is it modern, contemporary, traditional or shabby chic? Once you have your furniture, you could paint yourself an accent wall, and get some throw pillows for your couch. Accenting and adding your own style will make you feel right at home.
Decorating your first place can be a great thing, so take a day to look for great deals. Be sure to check out all of your options before you make any major purchases. Ask around to see if anyone in your family wants to donate something to you. Don't worry if it is old or not because you can buy couch and chair covers, all in which you will be able to find at walmart, meijer or Kmart. Don't forget the great deals that you may be able to find online. Good Luck With Your First Place!
