Decorating Your House with Dollar Store Bargains

Who said that decorating your home had to cost a fortune to look like a million bucks? You can find a ton of great items at your local dollar store that will be beautiful accents to your room and won't break the bank. Here are some ideas for decorating your home using items you can find at most dollar stores.

One thing that can help a house truly feel like a warm, inviting home is burning candles. If you price candles at most stores you will quickly see that pillar candles or any sort of decorative candles can cost a bundle. Many candles cost over $5.00 each and some cost as much as $20.00 or more for a single candle. Try checking out the candle selection at your local dollar store instead.

Typically the candles at a dollar store won't be as large as the ones you could buy at another store, however you can usually make up for this by grouping several candles to create more of an impact. Often times dollar stores will carry unique, decorative candles that you can't find at other stores which can be beautiful accents to any room in your home.

While you are in the candle aisle at the dollar store be sure to check out their candle holders as well since often times you can find beautiful glass or metal candle holders for just a buck that would cost you a fortune elsewhere. The quality may not be quite as high as a candleholder you would get at another store, but they still look beautiful and help to create ambiance in your home.

Another great thing to shop for at the dollar store when decorating your home is picture frames. Some of the frames at the dollar store are cheap quality, however many of the frames are great and they have a wide variety of styles to choose from. Just because a frame is made from plastic and not metal does not mean that it won't look beautiful in your home.

Most dollar stores carry an assortment of vases as well - usually in unique styles or colors. Try picking up several different vases at the dollar store and filling them with fresh or dried flowers to create instant appeal in any room in your home. Along with vases you can often find ceramic flower pots or terra cotta pots which can also look lovely in your home.

For your bathroom, you can shop for shower curtains, soap dishes and a variety of other small items at the dollar store and save a lot of money that way.

Finally for projects like painting be sure to check out the section of tools at the dollar store. You can usually find a wide assortment of paint brushes, paint trays, roller covers and painter's tape for a lot less than you would pay at the home improvement store.

By accenting your rooms with items from the dollar store you can still create a homey, warm atmosphere but you don't have to spend a fortune to do it.
