Corners are among the hardest of areas to decorate of any home. There are however, ways you can utilize this space to its fullest potential. Corners can be used as a way to make your rooms look bigger, or as a storage center for items that would typically clutter your home. A great way of using corner space to make a room appear larger is to use light. You can put a long floor lamp beside an easy chair to create a cozy reading space. You can also place lighting on the walls to illuminate your corners and get rid of the shadows that may accompany them. A small corner table with a lamp is another great idea, provided you have enough space for these items. For a particularly large corner, a writing desk with a top lamp can turn into a working retreat. Add your laptop, and you have created your own personal working space.

If extra storage is a concern, you can erase a great deal of clutter by adding a corner storage unit or cupboard. These are great for hiding any items that you would like to stay in that particular room, and yet have out of sight. Board games, magazines, and media can be stored in many chic entertainment towers that can be placed in a corner. This will give your room a more streamlined look.

Another use for corners in the home is decorative items. If you have an expensive vase or sculpture on a pedestal, using corners to showcase them will cut down on the chances of the item getting knocked over or damaged. The same goes for any other item that you would rather not put in a high traffic area. Corner shelves are a good way to display your favorite items.

Placing mirrors above tables or shelving in corner areas is another fantastic way of making your present room appear bigger. You can line up nicely framed photos vertically down a wall and draw the eyes of visitors to your favorite photos. Another favorite use of a corner is to provide housing for your lovely houseplants. These are more items that you would not wish for people to knock over. Plants are such a plus because they provide many benefits. They are oxygen giving air purifiers, and are aesthetically pleasing also. You can also use fake plants and trees to decorate your corners. These are simple items, yet important as they seem to tie a room together.

Corners should never be overlooked. They are an underused part of any successful home design. They can be functional or just used for cosmetic pleasure. The main thing to take away from this article is to love and use every part of your home. It should work together like a team, bringing your family many years of enjoyment.
