Decorating Ideas for a Casino-themed New Year's Eve Party

Jeanne Marie Kerns
I personally love having themed parties. It gives the guests something to look forward to instead of worrying if this is the right party to go to for New Year's Eve. Having a themed party also give you complete control of the mood that surrounds the party. If you play it out perfectly, the party will be a success. Here are a few tips of mine to help you have a Casino-themed New Year's Eve party.

The first thing when thinking about any party is to first pick out the invitations and get them ready and sent out to whatever guests you intend to invite. The best place to find numerous different casino themes is at Evite.com. Here you can pick and choose many different ways to make and customize invitations. Some of the many different themes include, Poker Late Night, Casino Night, Dice Games and Are You In?. Just fill in your information, and you have yourself a customized invitation to send to all your friends.

Next you have to decide before the invitations go out how you want everyone to be dressed when they show up. Since we are doing the whole casino theme, the only way to dress is in proper attire. Tuxedo's for the men and glitzy, sparkling dresses for the women. Cheesy costume jewelry, decks of cards, dice, as well as prizes for those who win the card games that are being played as the entertainment.

Once you have the invites and attire out of the way, setting up the place where the party is being held is next. If your going to have a casino themed party, then you have to have a few tables where people can play some card games. Buy or rent about five poker tables and chairs. Set them up around the area with enough room in between each one. Buy some red and white table cloths to decorate the top of the tables. Offer Texas Hold 'em, Poker, Five Card Stud, and Black Jack. You can actually pick and choose whatever games you would like to play, these are just some of my personal favorites.

Setting up the music can be a really difficult for some people, but if your going to go with the whole casino theme, the only music you need is Vegas style music. Whether you like it or not, it will set the mood well. Get a little Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, or Harry Connick Jr., and you will good to go.

Now is the best part, the food for the party. I always tell anyone I know when having a party, keep the food simple. Do not make or buy things that people have to guess what they're eating. For this specific party, Italian food is the way to go. Set up a long table with red and white table cloths overlapped, as well as red and white forks and knives with maybe some plates that have playing cards on them. Dishes for your casino themed New Year's Eve party can include, lasagna, meatballs, sausage and peppers in tomato sauce, variety of cheeses and meats, along with the "bring your own bottle" option.

If you stick to all these ideas, your party will sure to be a hit. Happy Holiday and have fun at your casino themed party.

This sounds like fun. You can also have an old toilet at the door and ask people to leave their cash in the toilet, this would make it more casino-like. I'll bet you have a great celebration.
