Decorating a Peacock-Themed Christmas Tree

J. Darling
With its feathers of vivid, bold colors, the peacock is a majestic creature. Most people wouldn't mentally link the bird with a holiday tree, but if done correctly, a peacock themed Christmas tree can add beauty and elegance to your holiday decor.

For this theme, you could use several different colors of artificial trees. Blue-green, champagne gold, or standard green would all work. I would suggest using the golden tree, as the bright ornaments will stand out more against the champagne color.

Christmas Central has a huge selection of peacock-themed ornaments and Christmas tree accessories. I suggest using peacock-colored garland and sprinkle sprays in fuschia, peacock-feather, and aqua throughout the branches. For lighting use blue, green, or mix a strand or two of each color. Start out with a set of 24 shiny peacock-green ball ornaments, as the specialty ornaments are more expensive and you'll want to use the "cheaper" ones as filler. Purple and blue ball ornaments would also look pretty against the golden branches. Purchase a few of each of these ornaments: beaded peacock feathers, mica glittered balls, feathered mica balls, gemstone starbursts, blue and green gems, and/or golden glitter peacock masquerade masks. Add one or two larger peacock ornaments and additional jewel-drop ornaments as needed. Top the tree off with an ornate filial glass blue topper. A royal blue tree skirt will hide the tree stand.

For even more tree-trimming fun, invite some friends over to help you decorate. Serve blue or green cocktails such as Green Flashes, Green Appletinis, Margaritas, or Blue Breezes!
