Decorating a Shabby-Chic Baby Nursery

I absolutely love shabby-chic décor. I have started the process of decorating my upcoming baby's nursery in shabby-chic décor, and I am excited. It doesn't have to cost a fortune to create a beautiful nursery, but you do need time to bargain shop, and pick out items that you love.

Crib

Any vintage looking crib, or modern white or cream crib, will work well in a shabby-chic nursery. I chose a white Jenny Lind crib for it's beautiful simplicity and vintage look. I love it in the room. I also saw beautiful antique white and antique ivory colored cribs while shopping around, and they were breathtaking as well. The most beautiful crib that I saw was by Creations Babycalled the Venezia in a vanilla finish. It is absolutely gorgeous. I would love to purchase a crib like that, but it cost around $1,000, which is too much money for me to spend on a crib. It has a vintage and modern look to it, which is stunning.

Bedding

I visited a local shabby-chic store and was mesmerized by their beautiful crib bedding selections. If you do not live near a shabby-chic store, you can purchase them online at www.shabbychic.com . There are also bedding sets that are available at Target, but they are not nearly as beautiful as the ones on the website. Most of the bedding is geared towards baby girls, but there is one bedding set that is clearly for boys. You don't have to purchase shabby-chic bedding to get a shabby-chic look however. There are many beautiful crib sets that have dainty floral designs, and delightful and whimsical pastel colors and designs that are girly and vintage looking.

Accessories

Beautiful rugs, in pastel colors, will accent a great nursery. As well as a beautiful lighting fixture, like a chandelier, or beautiful lamps. You can choose simple lamps with a floral lampshade, or a pastel colored lampshade. Any cute lampshade that will fit your décor will work great. An example is a whimsical teapot lamp. Be sure to invest in a comfortable and beautiful rocking chair or recliner for the nursery. If you have an old chair in your home, or that you can find through bargain shopping, you can always reupholster the fabric with a pretty pastel color, floral design, gingham, or stripes. Pink and white stripes and gingham are my favorite, but choose whatever fabric works best for your nursery décor.

Decorating your baby's shabby-chic nursery should be a fun and exciting adventure. Take the time to make it beautiful, because it will not only be a soothing and restful respite for your baby, but for you as well.
