Super Bowl no sew window valances:
Cut a 12 inch long piece of felt by the width of your curtain rod. Allow enough to wrap around the ends of the rod. On one long side of the felt, cut so that it looks like a pennant. On the other long side, tuck the felt over the curtain rod. Once you have the base for your valance, lookup clip art or use coloring pages for the teams you are wanting to display. Enlarge the pictures and sketch out details. You can make patterns for the teams who are playing in the Super Bowl using the pictures. Cut simple shapes from felt and glue them to a 9 inch felt circle. From the back of the valance pin the emblem in the center of the valance. Pinning the circle emblem will allow you to remove and replace with different teams, year after year. Make a valance for every window in the room you are decorating for the Super Bowl. You may even choose to do your kitchen.
Super Bowl table runners:
Make table runners from felt to use on your coffee table, your table or buffet. Cut a piece of felt 12 inches wide by the length of your table. Cut the short ends to a point. Repeat the process of making the circle emblem, that you made for the valance, to use on the center of the table runners
Small Super Bowl flags:
Make small flags for your Super Bowl party to decorate your tables. For each flag cut a 4 x 6 inch piece of felt fold one short end a half inch over a wood skewer and hot glue. Make miniature emblems and glue to the front of the flags. Make as many of these flags as you would like for the two teams that are playing. As years go by you will start to amass several different teams. Use them all to decorate for the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl dammit dolls and footballs:
Using a gingerbread man pattern, trace the shape on two layers of white cotton fabric. Sew a quarter inch seam allowance around the entire gingerbread man, leaving a 2 inch opening for stuffing. Stuff the dammit doll and continue to stitch the opening closed. The cut edges of the gingerbread man doll will remain on the outside. Use a fine tip permanent marker to letter different offenses that occur during a football game. These dolls will be placed in baskets around your decorated Super Bowl room for participants to use to throw at the television during a frustrating play. Use brown felt to sew and stuff miniature footballs and add them to the dammit doll baskets. In the same basket add New Year's Eve bells and clangers so that participants may cheer their team during great plays. Make sure all party guests realize the bells and clangers are not to be thrown at the television.
Super Bowl throw pillows:
Purchase a generic fabric at your local discount or fabric store that has a football theme. Wrap your living room throw pillows in the fabric like you would a present. Use safety pin to pin the edges together. After the Super Bowl party simply take the fabric off and save it for next year.
No sew Super Bowl tablecloth:
Cut a piece of green felt large enough to fit over your serving table to emulate a football field.
Football decor:
I liven up my party using decor from my kid's rooms. They have an abundance of toys, helmets, pads, pom-poms and football memorabilia to enhance the look of the party. If you don't have these things readily available, you can always scour for them at thrift stores and yard sales all year long, along with plastic football themed serving bowls.
Complete your Super Bowl theme, using streamers and balloons from both teams playing.
