Decorating Tips With a Southwest Frame Trio

Harold Dean Sink
A hanging Southwest frame set is a nice way to show of your pictures, especially if your home decor has a Southwest theme. I happened to see this in someone's home and thought it would be a neat idea for someone else to display.

What will be needed are three frames with a Southwest design on them, and they probably should not be any bigger than 8" x 10" in size. Three eye hooks, a decorative metal circle, some hanging wire, ribbon, scissors, glue, and a decorative hook will be needed as well.

Pick out three pictures you want to display, too. Go ahead and place the pictures into each frame.

Start by screwing in an eye hook on the back of each frame at the top and center of the frames. Make sure they are not going to come loose or there will be a mess on your hands later on.

Place the frames face down on a table or other flat surface. Take care in not scratching them. Position each frame the distance you want from each one, and start with the bottom frame. Twist the wire into place on the first eye hook.

Run the wire through the second eye hook and twist tie it just enough to not come loose. Next is the final eye hook to tie up. After that is done, tie the last part of the wire to the decorative metal ring.

Cutting the ribbon to length for each section, have a front a back piece that will be long enough to go under the frames so that the ends will not be visible. Place the first front piece under the wire and dab some glue on the backside. Take the back piece of ribbon and apply it to the wire pressing the sides together with the front.

This will take some time. Be patient. Clothespins will hold it in place well while you work on the next three sections of wire. When you get to the decorative ring, just bring the ribbon on over and onto the backside. A continuous flow will look more professional.

Once the glue is dry on all sections of ribbon, turn the frames over one at a time. Try to tie a bow or a fancy bow at the ring to really show it off well. Determine how far up on the wall you will need to nail in the hook for the ring, and nail or screw it into the wall.

All that is left to do is to hang up your new set of frames. Work your way down from the ring in case something gives so that you can catch it before it falls and breaks. Hopefully this doesn't happen to you.
