For the walls in your western theme room you will want to have wooden paneling. If you do not have that you will want to keep the walls either tan or a light shade of brown. For wall hangings you will want scenes of horses, western items and other such pictures. When hanging them, also include other items, like animal heads or guns. These can be fake, in fact most people use fake items. Around the room you should have many wooden pieces. Figurines and statutes in wood are fantastic to use.
The furniture in your western style room should be leather. Black or brown is ideal. Hanging over the sofa should be wool blankets in solid colors, like grays, browns and shades of orange. You can also have throw pillows in an western style print. Nothing to flashy and no colors too bold. Keep to subtle colors. Wooden lamps look excellent in this type of room. Use dim light bulbs for lighting. There should be a wooden table in front of the sofa.
For flooring in the western style room, you can have wooden floors with a throw rug or you can have a dark carpet. Browns should be used. If you would like to have artificial plants in you western theme room, make them more along the cactus family. Stick to types that would be out west rather than frilly flowers. Making the western feeling will get easier as you go about the room. Denim accessories are excellent in the western style room. Make sure that you have a pair of cowboy boots to put on the fireplace hearth to make it really seem like a western room. A cowboy hat is another excellent item to display on a shelf or table.
When you are decorating with the western theme you will not want to have bright colors. Darker hues are better for everything. Remember do not clutter up the room. There should be space between the furniture. Use wooden baskets to put magazines in and for other odds and ends in the room. Keeping it simple will give it that rustic western look which is what you are ultimately after. It will look great and feel like you are out west when you are in this room.
