Decoration Day

A Memorial Day Poem

Tara M. Clapper
It isn't called
Decoration Day anymore,
Perhaps because it's an imposing title,
Expecting us to decorate the graves
Of fallen soldiers. So we say we
'Remember'--some of us do--
And though national pride
Is not always shouted,
We should decorate
The graves
For them.

Nicely said. Too many people forget the significance of this day.

Mom stills calls it Decoration Day. I kinda like the term myself.
