When a bride and groom are planning a wedding reception, one of the most important items to plan for is the entertainment. Before our wedding, my husband and I interviewed and researched a number of disk jockeys in the Toledo, Ohio, area. Eventually, we chose Decorative Sound and Michael Baginski.

One of the things that drew us to Michael and Decorative Sound was his personality. Instead of high pressure sales techniques, Michael explained his business philosophy - do what the bride and groom want. He was friendly, personable, and honest, and we were impressed by the package he was able to offer us. In addition, we were planning a Sunday wedding and received an additional discount off of the usual package price. We felt that the contract was easy to understand, and we signed up with Michael and Decorative Sound after our initial meeting.

Decorative Sound offers what it calls a "Premium Wedding Package." The package includes an initial consultation with the bride and groom to discuss the kinds of music they would like to hear at the reception, as well as other plans and special ideas that are available. To facilitate the discussion, Decorative Sound provides a reception planning sheet for the bride and groom to fill out. The sheet includes special song choices made by the couple for their introduction, their first dance, and the father-daughter dance. In addition, the couple can choose a list of "must play" songs for their reception and a list of songs and artists that absolutely should not be played. For instance, we chose not to play the chicken dance or any song by Eminem.

Before the reception, the bride and groom consult with Decorative Sound for a second time to finalize any details. At that time, the correct pronunciations for the wedding party's first and last names are reviewed with the disk jockey to avoid embarrassing mistakes at the reception.

When Decorative Sound arrives at the reception, the DJ will set up sound and lighting before the guests arrive. We were especially impressed by Michael, who really took charge at our wedding and reception. We had originally planned to have an outdoor wedding at another venue, but our plans changed when it began raining. Michael showed up early, got everything set up in advance at our new venue, and provided all the musing for our ceremony as well as our reception at no additional charge. Decorative Sound also provided a wireless microphone for our minister and a microphone for our speakers. We did not have to worry about a single detail.

Michael provided DJ and MC services throughout our reception, and helped things move along on the schedule that we discussed. For instance, we wanted to cut the cake before the dinner service so that it would be ready to serve to guests promptly after the meal. Michael got our guests and us on task and made sure we cut the cake, got our pictures in, and moved on to the speeches in a timely fashion.

At the end of our reception, we received a personalized CD without the special songs we chose for our ceremony and reception. Each time we play the CD, it reminds us of our special day and the great time we had, thanks in large part to Decorative Sound.

I was very disappointed with our service. They are one of the more expensive DJ's in the area, but came highly recommended. We felt we could shell out a bit more for less worries. The owner, Michael, assured us he would be there for the ceremony (we hired them for both). Well, he didn't. The guy showed up 20 minutes before the ceremony and we had wanted to start the music 1/2 an hour before. Then, he had the songs all out of order and there was a long pause between the end of the prelude and the processional song. I felt like he had no idea what was going on. Then, when we arrived at the reception he had us all meet before he announced us, which was fine. Well, thankfully I glanced at the clipboard he had and noticed that all the information was WRONG! We had two meeting with, Michael, the owner, in which he went over everything we wanted, bridal party names, etc. He had it all written down, but what this guy had wasn't correct at all. I had to quickly change who was walking with whom
