Deep, Dark and Dangerous: Spice Up an Afternoon with Vikings

Enter the World of the Neo-Vikings

I am a big fan of the Montel Williams show, especially, when Sylvia Brown is on. It's fun to listen to her predictions and the information she gets from her guides. One day Montel had Jaid Black on his show. She is the creator of the publishing website Ellora's Cave the first ever erotic e-publisher. I was fascinated by Jaid's life and the fact that she became a successful writer while being a single mother on welfare.

After finding out about Jaid Black and Ellora's Cave, I checked out her books. One book that I read was Deep, Dark and Dangerous. Jaid describes her books as Romantica, which is a combination of romance and erotica. They are not the Harlequin books with all the flowery descriptions of sex, but filled with romance and steamy, love scenes. I was intrigued by Jaid's books that were about this other world where neo-Vikings lived.

Deep, Dark and Dangerous is about a modern day movie star, Madalyn, who finds herself in this neo-Viking world. Madalyn becomes the wife of Otar, after he saves her from the humiliating auction block. Women in the neo-Viking world are not given the liberties that Madalyn is use to. She is not happy about becoming the wife to this Neanderthal Otar, but it was better than standing naked on an auction block and being leered at like a piece of meat.

Otar had seen Madalyn in her movies and had loved her every since discovering this fiery beauty. He was overjoyed with capturing her and having Madalyn as his wife, but it would take some time before she warmed up to him. He was a patient Viking. It wasn't long before he had her in his bed and in her heart. There was a war brewing in the Viking world, which drew Madalyn closer to Otar.

Jaid Black is creative in her writings. I enjoyed reading about the neo-Viking world and the different language that they spoke. The romance setup is simple and not filled with a lot of writing that's hard to follow. Once I started reading the book I couldn't put it down. When I finished Deep, Dark and Dangerous I wanted to read more about Madalyn and Otar.

Despite that the setting of the book is in a world that reminds me of the cavemen era, the romance between Madalyn and Otar will draw you in. The steamy, sex scenes are raw and erotic. Deep, Dark and Dangerous is a fun read for all of us, who enjoy reading about love and fantasy.

After reading Deep, Dark and Dangerous, I became a BIG fan of Romantica books so much so that I started writing these types of stories. I was not a big romance fan. I had never read erotica. My types of books are more in the realm of murder mystery and John Grisham. I always wanted to be a murder mystery writer. After writing a Romantica story, it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed this type of writing.
