Deep Link Directories Go Further Than Your Homepage

The first thing a good webmaster does to build links is submit their website to directories. It can be done manually, semi-automatically, or completely automatically. Many times, webmasters hire people to submit to directories for them. Directory submission is an easy and fast way to build links, credibility, and brand awareness. Statistics show that more and more people are using directories to find good websites, because unlike search engines, humans review all websites in a directory. Most directories only allow people to submit the home page of their website, and this is good initially. However, to be a truly efficient link builder, you cannot only build links for your homepage, you must develop links pointing towards internal pages.

Getting links towards internal pages has numerous benefits. For one, those pages get higher PR and rise up in SE results. By linking to multiple pages inside your site, you get more results coming up on Google searches, and that means more traffic. The benefits go further than that. If you only have links going to your homepage, it does not look natural and your site will not appear as high as it could. There are paid directories, where you must pay to be included, and there are reciprocal directories, where you must give a reciprocal link to get inclusion. Some directories are all three, as they put reciprocal and paid submissions above free submissions. Most deep link directories are all paid, or at least reciprocal, but there are some free ones out there as well. It is easier to find free directories for home page links only, and that is good because you should be linking heavily to your home page, and you should also buy paid links from home page directories, not only from deep link directories. Although you need to link to deeper pages, the majority of your link building should be focused on your home page. By submitting your website to a variety of deep link and regular directories, you put your site a step ahead of the majority of your competitors (not many submit to deep link directories).
