Deeper

Dr. Jamie Yvette
I could never float quietly with you
It's a skill that I am not inclined to master
Staring at the sky would only raise questions
to which I'd long to find the answers

The stale air suffocates me
I would rather inhale the deep
Explore the vastness of the sea
and delve further while you sleep

There's so much beauty down here;
that which I've never found at the surface
While others admire the moon and the stars
I delve deeper for a purpose

How I wish that I could lay still with you
And enjoy the sound of a tranquil breeze
But my soul prompts me to navigate my way
to that which I have not yet seen

I'm swimming deeper and so much deeper
into territories unknown
Yet in the depths of unchartered waters
is where I feel most at home

How I long to find the undefined
That for which there is no classification
Only the deep gives me hope for such discoveries
And only in the deep can I achieve elevation
